Confidentiality & Your Rights
Your confidentiality is paramount in therapy and a counsellor is bound by confidentiality. What you share in conversations on the phone, online and in the clinic room is confidential; however, there are some potential exceptions to this. Should we feel you are at risk of harm, we may need to contact another professional for your own safety. Moreover, should your records be required by another agency, we will discuss this with you in advance and will require your written consent to release records. We are also required to comply with any requirements from a legal perspective. Our confidentiality policy is outlined in your consent form and in our Privacy Policy, which is located at the footer on this website.

What to Expect in an Intake Session
In your first session (intake session), we will spend around 45 minutes gathering background information such as life history, previous psychological interventions, medical, family, relationship and work history. We will discuss your goals for counselling, and if indicated, we may ask you to complete a short online self-assessment to support with clarifying any symtomology. We will then spend the remainder of the session discussing what is currently going on for you and planning a way forward for you in therapy. Please read our article "How to Maximise Your Counselling Sessions and Your Role in Counselling" for further support with your sessions.
