Your Unique Angle

www.truereflectioncounselling.com

Oftentimes, I find that clients do not deeply appreciate what they actually bring to others.  This is truly a travesty of monumental proportions, as it keeps us from recognising our innate sense of worth.

We are each multi-faceted beings. We each bring many differing angles to life. We are all able to do, be, and express in unique ways, ways that others cannot. To appreciate and honour these angles of expression in each individual is one the basic tenets of my counselling practice.

But the system of education has schooled us to believe that we need to ‘specialise’ in something. Perhaps our parents taught us this as well. To focus narrowly so that we can be the master of something, the one thing we can be ‘known’ for, to be seen as ‘successful’ in. We are taught and told that we need to choose a specific life path, particularly as we are growing up, out of the need for security. We are taught that if we do not do this, we will ‘be starving and on the street without a job’, hence, lacking in security. We are told we need to choose a university degree or a profession.

A narrowing that negates the intrinsic multi-faceted nature of our beingness.

Consider your own life. How many things do you actually do in a way that no one else can, in the way that you do? How many things are you good at? If you are completely honest, the list will actually be quite large. Perhaps you cook a certain dish in a way that no one else can, or write in a way that is inspiring to others, or you are able to speak with people and relate to them in a specific way. These are all angles that we each provide to the world. It’s not just ONE angle we are here to provide, we provide a multitude of specific angles, every one of us. The reflection we offer to others in these differing angles is HUGE. And it is INSPIRATIONAL.

In this way, everyone gets just what they need, whether that be the reflection of how to be in a marriage or romantic relationship with someone to how to lovingly raise a child to how to be in purpose at work. We all benefit from each of our unique angles. We are not here to ‘do it alone’ – we need us ALL to bring the angles we are here to bring, and to shine that gorgeous light that we truly are for all the world so see. 💫
